How to Adopt a Basset
Welcome and thank you for considering a Basset Hound puppy from King’s Hounds. All our puppies have AKC registered parents who have been genetically tested by Paw Print Genetics. We strive to produce healthy, happy, top quality AKC European Bloodline Basset Hounds that are well-socialized for years of enjoyment by your family. The puppies are all born and raised here at our family ranch with the help of our kids. Each puppy will go home with a record of all wormings, vaccines and a certificate of their health exam from our veterinarian. We love our Basset Hounds and will make sure they go to the best homes possible. We adopt our Basset Hound puppies as AKC Limited Registration (Pet Quality/No Breeding rights), or AKC Full Registration (Breeding/Show rights) to approved homes. The amount of European percentage will vary depending on the breeding parents. Pricing
Deposits
If you are serious about getting one of our puppies, we will accept a $400.00 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to hold your pick of the current litter and Breeder must know whether a male or female puppy is desired. We go in order of deposits received for the puppy picking order. Deposits can be paid through Venmo, Zelle, or Cash (U.S. Currency). This deposit does go toward the adoption price of the puppy. Cash is preferred for the remaining balance of puppy if paying on day of pickup/ delivery. However, Venmo or Zelle is offered and must be paid in full by 7 weeks of age. If the puppy is not paid in full at 7 weeks and you have not made other arrangements with us then we reserve the right to place the puppy with another family on the waiting list.
We do not let our puppies leave until they are at least 8 weeks of age. Puppies will be up to date on all age appropriate vaccines and wormed every 2 weeks, starting at 2 weeks of age. Puppies will have a puppy health check from our licensed veterinarian and will have received a clean bill of health before leaving our home.

Transportation
Pick-up in Heath, TX, is always recommended. We do limit visitors to our property. We are always happy to provide videos/video calls to puppy buyers. Other forms of transportation (ground/air/pet nanny) can be discussed with the Buyer on a case-by-case basis. Buyer incurs/pays all necessary costs for transportation and pet nanny services before a puppy leaves our property.
We want to know about our potential new families and why you want a Basset Hound. We love people/families that have questions and that also provide information about the home they can provide and the person/family our puppy will be joining. We only want the best homes for our puppies and reserve the right not to place a puppy. We do not sell animals to pet brokers or pet stores. Thank you again for considering King’s Hounds!
Health Guarantee
All of our dogs are genetically tested before they are bred and have been tested for the four Basset Hound hereditary diseases which are: Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (Basset Hound Type), Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease, X-Linked (Basset Hound Type), and Thrombopathia (Basset Hound Type), and Lafora Disease.
We guarantee puppies to not be affected by these genetic disorders that are mentioned above.
The Breeder guarantees the puppy to be free of all communicable diseases and fatal viruses for a period of 2 days (48 hours) from the date of transfer to the Buyer. These include distemper and parvo. The Buyer must agree to not place puppy in any public areas and grounds including but not limited to, dog parks, pet stores, on the floor at the vets, or any other place other dogs have been until all puppy shots have been completed. This is for your puppies safety against deadly germs. King’s Hounds shall not be held responsible for the development of non-genetically derived diseases or disorders which may be due to negligence or failure to protect your puppy from communicable diseases.
Any medical condition must be proven and documented by 2 licensed veterinarians. Buyer agrees to take said puppy to a licensed veterinarian for a new puppy examination within 2 days (48 hours) from the transfer of puppy from Breeder to Buyer. The Health Guarantee is null and void if the Buyer does not follow the above agreement for the new puppy’s licensed veterinarian exam.
Buyer must notify Breeder within 48 hours of unsatisfactory findings on puppy’s Veterinary Health Exam. King’s Hounds will not accept any responsibility for injury during transportation or once received by Buyer, reactions to vaccines/medications, flea/tick preparations, or disorders caused by environmental factors, parasites/bacteria, allergies, thyroid, or auto-immune diseases. In the unlikely event of serious life-threatening illness during the first 6 months of the puppy’s life, King’s Hounds is NOT responsible for medical bills, but would consider replacing the puppy only if the life-threatening condition was genetic or congenital.
If a puppy has a serious life-threatening illness during the guaranteed time period, the puppy may be replaced when another one becomes available and transportation costs are not included. Negotiations between the Buyer and Breeder will determine the appropriate course of action.
